Christmas Cartoons of 2014

Here is this year's gift cartoons...kinda skimpy because of a nasty flu that lasted 7 days and totally killed all work flow...oh well, time to make up for it.

Valleyflood

This is an illustration that started about 6 months ago when Valleyfair was the most flooded it has ever been in the history of the park.  The season ended up straightening out somewhat, but there were many days spent literally sitting in a puddle of water.

These are some of the rookies (the MCIDs) who had to bike from the dorms.  They were saying it was so bad that management had constructed a balance beam walk way of sorts that stretched the length of a football field that employees were expected to traverse each day to and from work.

This illustration is a take on the Greek mythology of the River Styx.  It isn't much of a consolation, but you can't blame a guy for trying.

Sketch Nuggets

It's that time of year...another season of live caricatures over with...6 months of slowly increasing madness, finally over.  That makes a total of 14 seasons for this guy...sheesh, when you say it like that...

Anyway, after a season, it can be really hard to get yourself out of the mode of automatically drawing "park style" art, or just to draw/create at all.  These sketches represent some work during the season, after the season/recently, and a couple that were lost in the cracks or forgotten to post and are finally seeing the light of day.

Hope you enjoy...and thanks for stopping by.

Wedding Card Commission

Here is a recent commission for a wedding card gift caricature.  Kind of interesting to see how much the drawing transforms from the plain, linear sketch to the final, rendered painting.

Time for One More

Another narcissistic post?  This is to capture the sentiment of what the customer starts to look like to a caricaturist at the end of a long season.
